Paul R. Johnson Obituary

Paul Ray Johnson passed peacefully in his home on January 6th, 2024. He was 54 years old – still a kid at heart. He was born in Bountiful, Utah, and was raised in West Jordan, Utah and Rexburg, Idaho. He went to West Jordan High School until his Junior year, and moved to Rexburg his Senior year, where he graduated from Madison High School in 1988.

He met his first wife, Celeste, and they were married in 1988. Paul joined the Air Force in 1991 and served happily and honorably for 6 years. He took great pride in his military service, though he never bragged about what he had done for his family, his country, and, lastly, himself. Paul and Celeste were married for 24 years and had three children, Tyler, Trevor, and Trey.

His military service took him to Biloxi, Mississippi, where he enjoyed shrimping, fishing, and being around other people. He then moved to Albuquerque, where he spent almost seven years working on helicopters. He loved Albuquerque, and enjoyed learning about the history of the area, eating authentic Mexican food, and watching the hot air balloons float around every summer.

After his service ended, he found his way to Intel, where he learned how to fix and troubleshoot a different kind of expensive machinery. He was a Technician for the rest of his life, and he took as much pride in that work as he did his military service. He worked for Intel, Micron, IMFlash, and Texas Instruments for 25 years, which took him to Boise, Idaho, and finally Lehi, Utah. He was a dedicated, hard working, knowledgeable Tech, and he did anything asked of him to get the job done. His life revolved around his work, and those that worked with him will miss him greatly.

He married his wife, Shery in 2013, and they spent ten happy years together. In marrying Shery, Paul gained two step children and three grandchildren and many other in-laws that loved him greatly. They worked together to purchase a home in Murray, Utah.. Paul enjoyed fixing things so much that he purchased a couple of cars to work on, and collected all the tools needed to do it. More often than not, Paul’s days off consisted of spending time with his wife and grandkids, doing yard work, home improvement projects, and amateur car mechanics. He enjoyed going on adventures, and traveling to new places with Shery always brought him childlike joy. Paul never turned down an opportunity to hear a story from a fellow Veteran, and he never missed an opportunity to help those around him.

Paul is survived by his wife Shery, his father, Lamar Johnson, his eight sisters, three brothers, his three sons, Tyler (Amber), Trevor (Krystal), and Trey (Sadie), his two stepchildren Mychal (Lynae), and Nychol (Scott), as well as his grandkids Alexzander, Aiden, and McGavyn.

Services will be held Saturday, January 12th at 1pm at 948 West Tuscany View in Midvale, Utah. Donations to cover burial expenses can be made at the service, or contact a family member for more details.
